Don't bother wasting your money on stuff like this....
  • Studio Visit Magazine
Stop waiting because you’ve been scammed. Sorry this happened to you, but you need to know you will never get a copy of that edition because it very likely doesn’t exist....
  • Galeria Azur Madrid
I smelled a scam when I saw the note from the "curator." Thanks everyone for confirming my suspicions....
  • Galeria Azur Madrid
I just received an email from them as well for Berlin with an opening in a month... I am so glad that I googled. Shocking to see that price for an "entrance fee". This is disappointing but glad to know now that this is a thing. Thank you to everyone who has shared. I am a newish/emerging artist and clicked the links in the email -- hopefully, I did not just get some virus or...

  • Holy Art Gallery?
Do you seriously think you wouldn't be a starving artist if you put your money into a Vanity Gallery?? What do you think you will gain by collaborating with them? Why do you create art? 1. Because you can't live without creating art? 2. So others can enjoy your art? 3. To gain admiration? 4. To sell your art? 5. To get recognition and become known in the art world? 1.-3. By all means waste your money...
  • Residency Arquetopia
The Cusco, Peru staff and instructor are wonderful but Arquetopia claims of a decolonial mission is misleading. They are demanding in payments, rules are incredibly strict and bizarre with no lenience. I’ve done more than a dozen residencies, served as jurors and application reviewers, and worked at an artist residency, I have never experience the level of disorganization & questionable practices. Meetings with Francisco are actually one sided lectures, it feels like he just wants...

  •  Contemporary Art Curator (Magazine)
Dear Anonymous, We are writing in response to your recent review regarding our online exhibition and invitation to be part of the online exhibition. After a thorough investigation during 2 month, we have found that your review contains fake and false information. Even you tried to be anonymous we found your name; you are not our exhibitor. You are just a person who writes fake reviews trying to damage reputation of companies. Its not the first fall...
  • Holy Art Gallery?
As a young artist, I am so conflicted between paying for what I now know to be a vanity gallery or saving my money and trudging through the starving artist lifestyle...
  • Arquetopia Oaxaca
I had a very negative experience with Jessica as well. Overall I had an ok experience but I was the only resident at the time and I get the feeling they don't have many applicants...

I’ve submitted once despite their website is sketchy not planning to submit again. If you are in UK you might want to check out their “exhibition”...
  • If you’re approached by “Gallerist” Marco Antonio Patrizio – Run!
Be very careful, he approached me yesterday via IG (context art gallery) but communication seemed strange. He asked me the size of my pictures and then offered me to exhibit with him and told me that I should go to the next exhibition. It seemed very suspicious and that is why I ended up here. Don't trust that he has so many followers, and by no means pay him anything. Report and block in Instagram....
  • ADC – Art Comes Alive Competition
If you are considering sending art work to ADC Gallery in Cincinnati -DON’T!!! Upon viewing one of Litsa Spanos promotional videos, where she really promotes herself, I saw one of my large paintings that had been scanned, made into 4 separate art works and available for sale—all without my knowledge. . Don’t believe anything this person says. It’s all about her and what money she can make so she can promote herself. Get far far...
  • Holy Art Gallery?
A question for artists who have voiced their grievances here: as anyone in this thread sold pieces through this gallery before? I've actually had a positive experience exhibiting, but am unsure how the sale process works and am struggling to get that information. Can anyone in this thread speak to a sale experience with this gallery?...
  • Galería Azur Madrid: vanity gallery
It is a vanity gallery with multiple locations around the globe. I just got an offer for €2000, which of course I didn't accept. The physical exhibition participation with 2 works in the gallery in Miami will only last 2 !!!!!!!!!!! days and will be a huge event to which gallery owners and trade fair organizers will be invited. (Why do I care about a trade fair organizer?) The artist bears the transport costs. The...
  • Galería Azur Madrid: vanity gallery
Thanks for posting this. It helps a lot of artists out there to have this information....
  • If you’re approached by “Gallerist” Marco Antonio Patrizio – Run!
So sad to hear that.. Context art gallery approached me.. Same situation here. Few days ago I sent 300euro to him, but no more answer from him.. He sent me gallery's video and I trust him and he demand contract paper and portrait photo, and I sent him... I really regret and I want my 300euro back.. He gave me his whatsapp id but no answer yet. He said his name is Jacopo Ceo. This...
  • Gallery DeBoer
Still going on, Ron is really a piece of work to be avoided at all costs. He preys on the old, will keep permanently items left with him for valuation: emails and phone calls will be ignored until you turn up at his door. Then the Bullshit will start to flow OMG it is thick, bring some popcorn and a towel. Honestly: Fuck Ron DeBoer before he fucks you....
  • Parallax Art fair / PAF
Absolutely horrendous experience exhibiting at Parallax. Brought it up with their manager Tom after to be met with utterly rude and arrogant replies trying to blame me and my product for the poor quality of their show. It's a very low standard of work. They will also lie to you that you will make a minimum of £300 sales. Many of the artists there did not sell anything. The visitors aren't there to buy. The...
  • Parallax Art fair / PAF
Terrible experience exhibiting here. Was promised minimum of £300 sales. The management mislead the artists and the customers. The artists who participate are amateurs so the quality is very low and the audience who come are not coming to buy. Horrible experience - I have sold brilliantly in other shows and sold nothing here. Total waste of time....
  • Florence Biennale
Florence Biennale 2023 review vs London Biennale I am an emerging artist, with one year in the art business. I have applied for 2 biennales, the London and the Florence one. The London one is 35 euros to apply, and the space is free once selected. The Florence Biennale is quite expensive as largely mentioned in other posts. As an emerging artist, these were both useful to get ahead in the early months - people...
  • NY-ArtNews
This NY-ArtNews dude lived in a SoHo loft near me and I actually visited and saw his scary operation. The "NY Gallery Show in the heart of NY's art center" was just a couple of warped stretchers hanging above his kitchen sink, obscured by a line of laundry. Other artists' work was stored away in various closets and on top of a washing machine. Cat litter crumbs crunching underfoot as you walked around "the gallery"....
Galerie Gora

A number of artists report being contacted by Montreal’s Galerie Gora with offers of exhibitions. Of course at first these emails are met with excitement, but then many of them realize they never submitted work to the gallery and they go on to read the terms of engagement. Galerie Gora solicits emerging artists, offering them exhibition space at very high cost. Again, while there is some debate over the validity of the gallery itself, it is a good rule of thumb to never fall victim to an email requesting money.

Agora

There is some debate in the art world as to the validity of Agora Gallery in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood. Some artists find this to be a respectable, even profitable way to exhibit their art, while many others have had experiences that border on scam. Agora has a pretty high profile reputation for this. Artists confront steep upfront costs to exhibit as well as commission fees. There are those who assert that Agora Gallery is held in low esteem by fellow Chelsea venues. The bottom line: you must decide whether spending thousands of dollars to put your art in a…
