  • Excellance art Gallery in Mirabella, Spain
OFFICIAL STATEMENT – EXCELLENCE ART GALLERY From Excellence Art Gallery, we wish to publicly respond to a series of false, unfounded, and clearly defamatory statements circulated by profiles operating under the name “ANONIMUS.” First of all, we consider it necessary to provide context regarding the origin of these publications. These are anonymous profiles that, for months, have been acting repeatedly across different platforms, using multiple identities. This behavior—based on the systematic dissemination of unsubstantiated accusations—lacks credibility and...

Giuseppe Carnevale and Excellence Art Gallery, the worst I've come across. Very unprofessional, fake promises, rookie methods and very overpriced....
  • Residency Arquetopia
Oh wow!! I am in Puebla now and left half way through my residency for many of the same reasons. Fortunately I found a fabulous airbnb, at my own expense of course. I love Puebla, but all that you said is so true!...
  • Holy Art Gallery?
Is the owner that absolute disgusting cheetos eating dressed like homeless I met in their Dalston gallery?...
  • Arcade Project, M. Charlene Stevens
Rewritten for clarity: I can confirm the comments regarding Charlene. I will add that she sabotages deadlines. She makes herself the center of attention as everyone begs her to do her work and she deliberately turns it in at the last minute. The team then has to work all night to prepare her work printer or the website. She has cheated the artists she''s endorsed out of press in this way....
  • Studio Visit Magazine
I was in an earlier publication, and was pleased with the look of it. I see people saying "pay to play", and I guess this is the case, kind of a vanity publication? I thought I would apply a second time, the juror seemed interesting. I got in, paid for a 2 page spread. I followed what was required for images and expected them to be printed as I sent them with the background showing...
  • PAKS Gallery, Vienna/other locations
Thank you for your opinions. I received the same invitation. My web host classified it as scam....
  • LemoArt Gallery
My experience with Ludvig Rage ist 100% positive. I have been collaborating with them, they promoted my work and thanks to them I have met many gallery owners and collectors and sold many of my works. I don't understand people like you, spreading lies. It's a shame! Thanks Ludvig Rage for all the support and effort!!!...
  •  Contemporary Art Curator (Magazine)
I sent them all of my best art and my Biography and after I emailed everything to them I have not heard form them, so they are probably selling my art. So they steal art. I hope that they are caught....
  • Galería Gaudí
I’m an experienced artist. If a gallery considers you as an investment it is typical to have commission taken but THAT is ALL. The lack of transparency on their socials is concerning- sure, beautiful art photographed but where are the photographs of the fairs and their people representing you? Championing you? If you’re paying these massive fees on top of commission consider 1) what kind of placement this buys you in a fair. Where is...
  • LemoArt Gallery
I didn’t want to write this review but I feel the obligation to warn the artistic community about the problematic business practices of Ludvig Rage Club and its leadership. I will not go much into the details, but I want to clearly state that my experience matches the pattern of business practices described in the below negative reviews regarding misleading claims and unprofessional conduct. I paid for a publication/event service with a clear deadline, which they...
  • The Other Art Fair, London UK
Hommm. Mixed thoughts here but tbh that’s the way it is at every art fair. They are all a huge risk due to time and costs. They are a lot of effort but unfortunately like a musician having to do free gigs to get noticed and on the map, art fairs are there for the same reason. Very very few go completely sell out and make a big. profit...
  • Galeria Azur Madrid
You don’t need to be famous to sell your art, you just need the right opportunities. And to put it infront of art lovers. Many artists get scammed and warning others of possible scams is very helpful. If you don’t want to take that warning in consideration thats up to you. But don’t berate someone for trying to help other artists not loose hard earned money. That’s just my take as a 25 year...
  • Context art gallery, Venice. AKA Marco Patrizio
About Fulle Galeria - unfortunately, it seems to be a well calculated scam. They contacted me from their official page asking to participate in "the water and the wind remember our name' exhibition in Patagonia. Once I paid the fee they disappeared completely and never returned any of my emails, messages, comments, even deleted my comment on one of their posts asking for an answer. Recently they made a post on IG recommending everyone to...
  • Lichtundfire in NYC
Lichtundfire is a pay to display gallery. I met Priska C. Juschka at her gallery at around the time of Covid and she proceeded to email me. $900 up front plus a cut from sales and unfortunately no guarantee of major marketing/ visits from critics etc. I’m not a fan of this kind of business construct and will never participate in a business dealing as such. Prompted by my curiosity...
  • Rebecca Hossack Galleries
I wish I listened to people 10 years ago who warned me about her. She will take you for a ride, not to be trusted....
  • Lichtundfire in NYC
Lichtundfire is a pay to display gallery. Your paying for your work to display and for them to operate. Long ago Priska Juschka’s partner was charged with fraud and an artist took him to court (artist won the case). At the time they operated under a different name and their partnership dismantled as well as the gallery. Ms. Juschka is now operating solo with Lichtundfite....

  • Holy Art Gallery?
Let me tell you, from personal experience from the 3 owners the fat one is the worst. His name is Angelo Tsekouras and he is a greedy rude and unintelligent person....
  • Holy Art Gallery?
They were collecting a group of artists together to advertise on the NYC subway, which I felt was the type of coverage I would pay for, and the price felt cheap for something big like that. Arranging for subway ads is a pain in the butt, and being bundled with other artists to make it affordable was actually something I had on my “what-if?” list. I work in advertising and I’ve made ads for nonprofit...
  • Flyer art gallery! Scam!
I was invited to an exhibition, so I searched and found it, that’s why I decided to refrain. Thank you for sharing the information....
  • Lichtundfire in NYC
A thousand dollars, plus 40% of my work? I don't think so. You don't need that much money. Take the thousand (which even that is ridiculous) or take a cut of the sale, I won't give you both....
  • UAE Art Collector / Global Art Awards / Global Art Agency
This year they even didn’t bother themselves with publishing the so called “finalists” and “winners” of “Sakura art prize”. It really looks like scam and I’m so grateful to every artist who posted their experience with this muddy organisation....
  • PAKS Gallery, Vienna/other locations
everywhere is this case, there are only pay-to-play galleries, art fair, biannale organizers, and bad-taste juries, I am deelply disappointed with this trash time of art nowadays....
  • Flyer art gallery! Scam!
Trying to get my art, back from Floriano Massera from Flyer Art Gallery. He says a courier will contact me. No news from a courier. I can easily arrange a pick up myself from the Netherlands to Rome, but he refuses. This man even said someone is interested in my art to try and silence me for a while. I just want my paintings back to me. Do not collaborate with this man. He makes fake...

Purchase Request…

A reader said “I received an e-mail from a buyer asking to purchase one of the paintings on my website. He sent me what looked like a cashiers check to pay for the painting and the shipping and asked that I send a payment to the shipper ASAP because he had scheduled a pick up. I went to the bank first to make sure the check was good. After several days of investigating they told me it was fake. In the meantime the buyer was pressuring me to pay the shipper or he’d cancel the sale. I know artists who…

Canada House Gallery

A reader sent this in, please add to this if you have experience here “I’ve been working with many galleries for years and have had amazingly wonderful experiences. Most treat their artists very well. It isn’t easy being a gallery owner with all the expenses and difficulties. Having said that, I would not deal with Canada House Gallery in Banff Alberta, after being treated in a very unfair manner in my opinion. I say this with a heavy heart because I would never say anything bad about a gallery unless I felt that I have been deeply wronged.”

Artisan Direct

An artist sent this in, any other comments? “Artisan Direct. Never deal with these people, especially Jayson Samuels. He’s an ex con who changed his name because he was convicted of fraud. You pay big time upfront for the exhibition, and the work might not even be displayed. After I asked for my work back, he lied and said he didn’t have it. I had to get a lawyer- the art came back but some pieces were damaged.”

Caprice Horn Gallery

A reader sent in this comment, please add if you have had experience here “We have had several artists complain about Caprice Horn Gallery, Berlin, Germany. She had sold art and not paid the artists. She had damaged art and not paid for repairs. She had blamed theft of images but did not pay the artist the insurance money. In one instance she had the wall painted with the art hung and ended up with white paint splatter on the prints and did not pay for repairs. She shipped work back to the USA and did not pack properly so…

Florence Biennale

This exhibition is set in the cradle of Renaissance art and its very name seems to link it to venerable, juried art shows like the Venice Biennale. But be wary of this and others like it. Florence Biennale is not a juried show and charges exorbitant fees for artists and galleries who wish to exhibit. The costs very often outweigh the benefits of participation.  Anyone have experience with this exhibtion?

How and Why to Use This Site

This is a site that gets its content only from users like you. (It’s getting over 300 views an hour now) These are positive and / or negative reviews of galleries, art fairs, consultants, writers, online pay to play offers, residencies and more – all written by artists so that other artists can beware of situations where institutions treat artists badly, or that end up costing the artist money or are outright scams. However, it is important to note that “member” or “artists run” spaces are cooperatives and not in the same category as vanity or “pay-to-play” galleries. If You Were…

Debut Contemporary

This is a letter I received, please add to the comments if you know this gallery of have more information. This is one letter that came in about them “about a dozen of my colleagues have been in touch with them (Debut Contemporary) as they have a lot of agents lurking around (I think artists are offered discounts if they bring people in) and several of them are suing the owners or thinking of suing them. Their true offer is quite well camouflaged unfortunately. I was told there was a fee of £400 when I met them years ago, which I…

Totally Artistic, Inc

This gallery was run by Scott Shane of Woodland Hills, CA. It was first called the Visual Arts Gallery and then changed its name to Totally Artistic, Inc. Scott (aka Shane) had a contract drawn up that each artist who paid for a membership, were required to donate a piece of their art to the organization so that Shane could use it to represent them and market their art. When the organization went under about 4 years later, Shane kept all of the art work and never returned it to the artists. He used it to decorate his home in…
