  • Lichtundfire in NYC
Lichtundfire is a pay to display gallery. I met Priska C. Juschka at her gallery at around the time of Covid and she proceeded to email me. $900 up front plus a cut from sales and unfortunately no guarantee of major marketing/ visits from critics etc. I’m not a fan of this kind of business construct and will never participate in a business dealing as such. Prompted by my curiosity...

I wish I listened to people 10 years ago who warned me about her. She will take you for a ride, not to be trusted....

Lichtundfire is a pay to display gallery. Your paying for your work to display and for them to operate. Long ago Priska Juschka’s partner was charged with fraud and an artist took him to court (artist won the case). At the time they operated under a different name and their partnership dismantled as well as the gallery. Ms. Juschka is now operating solo with Lichtundfite....

  • Holy Art Gallery?
They were collecting a group of artists together to advertise on the NYC subway, which I felt was the type of coverage I would pay for, and the price felt cheap for something big like that. Arranging for subway ads is a pain in the butt, and being bundled with other artists to make it affordable was actually something I had on my “what-if?” list. I work in advertising and I’ve made ads for nonprofit...

A thousand dollars, plus 40% of my work? I don't think so. You don't need that much money. Take the thousand (which even that is ridiculous) or take a cut of the sale, I won't give you both....
  • UAE Art Collector / Global Art Awards / Global Art Agency
This year they even didn’t bother themselves with publishing the so called “finalists” and “winners” of “Sakura art prize”. It really looks like scam and I’m so grateful to every artist who posted their experience with this muddy organisation....

  • Flyer art gallery! Scam!
Trying to get my art, back from Floriano Massera from Flyer Art Gallery. He says a courier will contact me. No news from a courier. I can easily arrange a pick up myself from the Netherlands to Rome, but he refuses. This man even said someone is interested in my art to try and silence me for a while. I just want my paintings back to me. Do not collaborate with this man. He makes fake...

  • The Other Art Fair, London UK
I have participated in the TOAF London in 2023 and sold two pieces, which covered the expensive fees and made a very modest profit - above all the fair was important to meet some interesting artists and learn from their professionalism, booths, and art generally. Although I have not came back to another edition - I live in Italy and the costs are very high for me - I know of other abstract painters who...

La Sala/Royal Cantina

Reader submitted – any feedback /experience here? La Sala/Royal Cantina at 58 North 3rd Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA http://www.cantinaroyal.com They take advantage of artists and performers by having them put down a deposit to use the space and charge show goers food and drinks money. If they make enough with the guests, then the artists are not charged for using the space. They do not have a tip jar for the artists and keep all the money for themselves. Diana Beshara (http://www.dianabeshara.com) and her boyfriend run the place. I went there to see a friend perform, they did…

Artrom Gallery

a reader writes this, any feedback/experience here? I had problems with the Artrom Gallery in Rome, Italy. It took me 3 years to get my work back after an invitational exhibit. I was not the only one either, I found another artist that was waiting for her work ever. longer. I found this artist when the gallery owner sent me some pictures after I wrote her many times, where she exhibited my work without my permission with this other artist, well, more like decorated her apartment. Together we got her to finally return our work.

Art Fusion

A reader writes the following, any feedback / experience here? Miami has a crazy load of galleries in the area called “Wynwood”. LOTS of artists want to be here and it has become so saturated with graffiti you can barely find the front door to a gallery. This saturation has created the next wave which is moving northward, same avenue but northbound. In this Wynwood area is a two story gallery “Art Fusion” jammed with paintings and photography. To make a long story short, just so you know, they charge wall space. 5′ x 10′ = $1800/month. I asked an…

Caelum Gallery

A reader wrote this – any experience here or feedback? “Caelum Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, is a vanity gallery. Several years ago, I walked in with another artist and the gallery director came over and engaged us in conversation. He took my card and said he’d look at my web site. Then I got a letter from him offering me a section of the gallery for a show — for a $3,000 fee. No, thanks.”

A reader wrote this – and experience here for anyone else? LemoArt Gallery in Berlin Offered to show 6 of my pieces at a 25% commision, (plus an upfront non refundable payment of 440€) for a six month showing (one piece per month). They mentioned this was a special offer and the regularly charge 50 euros per piece per 2 week show., plus the comission on sales. I was contacted on instagram, and a number of other artists in my circle where also offered this deal. As luck would have it I was in Berlin a week after receiving this…

Bruce Lurie Gallery

A reader sent this in – anyone else with feedback / experience? Bruce Lurie Gallery in Los Angeles — To make a long story short, Bruce and his twin brother expressed interest in my work. A few months later, Bruce called me to say he’d like to present my work in his booth at the Southampton Art Fair on Long Island. However, I’d have to ship my work to the fair, be responsible for shipping it back to me if it didn’t sell AND pay him a $1,000 “booth fee.” And the commission on work sold would still be 50%.…

Galeria Zero

A reader sent in this – any other feedback/experience? Everything that has to do with the curator Carolus Stoop and his moving gallery called galeria zero http://www.galeriazero.org/ is such a scam, I remember it was my first year I was starting to exhibit so I did’t know about those practice, the guy had rented a lame place, booked twice the number of artists that he could show just to make money, the artworks were barely hanged, I saw paintings on tables put back to back, some artists who did not come to hang their works themselves had their works never…

Venus Studios LLC and Art Supply

A reader sent this in, any other feedback / experience? Venus Studios LLC and Art Supply, Palm Desert, CA They sold thousands of dollars of my work and did not pay my commission. I took them to court and won in full but they still did not pay a cent. Back to court, agreed on monthly payment plan, paid for 5 months, then stopped. Still owe me thousands. Treated me so badly, bullied and threatened.
