Virtual Artists

I’m trying to learn if anyone has experience with Virtual Artists, a UK virtual gallery. I’m thinking it is a vanity gallery, but looking for confirmation of that. Thanks

Photographers should think twice about entering LensCulture

This Dutch-based organisation, lensculture.com, run by an American guy in Amsterdam, try to claim to some heavyweight affiliations — I was suckered in by their mention of Magnum, FOAM, and The Guardian — which they have little if anything to do with — and dealing with them was not good. After they pocket your initial fee, their so-called “expert” practitioner “1:1 Reviews” feedback seemed like it had been cut and pasted; it directly contradicted information I’d provided in the bio, showing they didn’t read anything I’d written. I’m not alone in that, it seems, from what I’ve read elsewhere on…

Inigo Philbrick in the mid to late 2000s

I met Inigo Philbrick in the mid 2000s, at a Salon, which his ex landlord and ex boss had organized together. I remember when Inigo spoke, he described so vividly this image of three nuns by the sea (I think it was a painting he had seen), I can still recall the images he created with his description. Anyways. He was very young and, you could tell immediately that he was very bright. Over the following 3, 4 years I hang out with him semi-randomly. Meaning we’d exchange an email once in a while and maybe meet two, three, four…

emergingartistplatofrm scam

Emergingartistplatform is a scam. They took £29.99 from me and from then on it has been total silence. I can’t phone them and they don’t answer emails. I have advised my bank to block any further transaction with them.

Alert: European Cultural Center Scam

The European Cultural Center is contacting artists and asking them to pay them 15000 Euro to participate in one of their exhibitions, and is also not offering to pay for transportation of artwork. They do no fundraising and offer no financial assistance for the individual artists they contact. All of the listed sponsors on their website are not real, and the ECC does not raise money for artists. Artists themselves are being asked to do the fundraising on the behalf of the ECC, and the ECC does not have a dedicated fundraiser. They expect the artists they invite to fundraise…

This has to be a scam

I subscribed to their EAP site after an approach from their agent. I then cancelled as I found their website impenetrable and their customer service non-existent. Now, 9 months later, they have made an unauthorised withdrawal from my account.

London Art Biennale Curated and organised by Gagliardi Gallery

I participated in the London Art Biennale at the Chelsea Town Hall. This was a vanity show that is not to be confused with the Chelsea Art Fair, which was my mistake. It was Curated and organised by the Gagliardi Art Gallery and involved an Association of Art Critics who would write about your art and produce a hard cover book for you at a considerable fee. This is a vanity show and is organised for the artists, the public do attend but it seemed to be more for the artists than anyone else. There are prizes handed out to…

Inigo Philbrick

I was friends with Inigo for a couple of years, around 2008/2010, until I was in London. He was one of those friends/acquaintances that you see once in a while and have cool conversations with. I was an arts student at the time, and was having a lot of trouble at my conservative school, and he helped me, read the letters from the school, and gave me some of the best advice I had received on it. I remember I was going to Italy for a short period of time, and he asked if I could look into a wallet…
