AC Contemporary – Latin Art
I was in talks with this gallery about exhibiting with them at Art on Paper in NY.
They presented an offer of charging me $1400 + shipping for 1 lineal meter of space in their booth. I had never worked with them before so I researched by talking with previous artists who has been in that fair with them.
I was told by 2 artists that this gallery didn’t had a real gallery space outside of art fairs; that they went to these fairs by charging the artists, that they had gotten their pieces broken, bad presented and they had no contacts or reputation. Their advice was to stay away.
I asked AC Contemporary to send me a contract or legal document with their service details and they told me they only worked with trust pacts. This was the biggest red flag for me.
After I told them I wasn’t going to exhibit with them due to personal reasons they treated me poorly, was told I would never exhibit again and they hoped they never heard of me before. I also lost $300 they charged me to propose my art pieces to the art fair curators.
So I have to say that you must stay away from AC Contemporary and the Argentinian “gallerist” Cristiana De la Vega.
I know they also present at art fairs in Miami, NYC and San Francisco.
