PAKS Gallery, Vienna/other locations

For more than a year i have been spammed with mails from this gallery. They use my full name followed by the sentence: “as you know, gallery repressentation is very important for the artist’s career.” I find this marketing strategy very aggressive since i politely stated as a reply to the first mail i got – that i didn’t need repressentation by a foreign gallery. I did not block the email, because i wanted to see, what they were “tempting” me with. It is a pay-for-play/vanity gallery and i read some negative reviews online that has confirmed this is not a good gallery to exhibit in.

Have anyone had dealings with this gallery?

They just reached out with an invitation as well there was something about it that felt not legit. It’s why I’ve been on the Internet researching. Thanks to all who contributed here..

I got an email today and since I’m a new artist I just assumed I’ve to pay to get my work out there.

How am I supposed to get my work into galleries if I don’t use their services?

It’s a scam, I received an email today from them saying all the same things as in the comments. Preying on ego & how high are those fees!!! So many spelling mistakes, always a red flag in my opinion.

I have been getting the same invitations. We students in art schools, years ago were warned about vanity galleries. I will finally unsubscribe from there solicitations.

Hello, a few years ago I participated in 3 exhibitions with them after paying a considerable fee. This was my impression: They invite as many artists as possible and with 1 painting so the rooms look filled with people during the day if the vernisagge. Take pictures of all of them and release an article in a local magazine (in German), and the owner is always on the main picture as he was a celebrity. Most of the wall spaces are dedicated to the wife of the organizer which makes a collective exhibition pretty uneven.
They are polite people but to be honest I felt completely scammed after that and off course, there was no selling in any of the 3 exhibitions. After traveling from another country and having high costs for transport and accommodation, it definitely doesn’t worth the “investment or representation”.
